One-one-one coaching expertise

Body image

Another area of life that I find many of my clients feeling impacted by is body image, confidence, and self-compassion towards self. I took training from The Body Positive to explore intuitive eating, mindfulness, and flexibility related to body image. I continued my curiosity to guide clients through mindfulness with food and body image utilizing acceptance and somatic skills.

I completed training (Advanced 1) on how trauma is held in the body with Somatic Experiencing International to continue to let the body be a valuable part of healing.

Perinatal & Postpartum

One challenging and rewarding chapter of many people’s lives include raising children. I am passionate about supporting families during this time. Tolerating the unknown and possible feelings such as; joy, excitement, sadness, grief, fear, and worry are a few experiences clients may explore in coaching. I have a PMH-C, perinatal mental health certification with Postpartum Support International. Within this work I utilize skills of mindfulness, acceptance, self compassion, values, community, and somatic supports. Guiding and supporting individuals through their life goals, which may include parenting, is part of the work I am proud to offer.

Somatic supports

I use somatic supports through movement, sound, nature, creativity, breathing, play, and communication to guide adults to move toward their goals. I work with clients to tolerate a range of thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and sensations using my training in Somatic Experiencing.

Certified and Trained in Safe and Sound Protocol. SSP is a 5 hour auditory intervention developed and patented by Dr. Stephen Porges, author of the Polyvagal Theory. Designed to reduce sound sensitivity, and improve auditory processing and behavioral state regulation. Activates the client’s social engagement system, helping to accelerate and enhance therapeutic outcomes. Supports physiological state regulation, allowing for greater resilience.

Couples Coaching

Couples coaching explores needs and communication patterns within the relationship to enhance overall satisfaction. The focus is improving communication, resolving conflict, setting shared goals, and increasing positive interactions. Both partners are present for this style of coaching.

Couples coaching expertise

Perinatal mental health and family support

I enjoy guiding parents and couples through the many chapters and changes in relationship dynamics when growing as a couple. I often think about how support during this critical life phase could have benefited many of my loved ones. I find value in mental health support during family planning, pregnancy, loss, and the postpartum periods.

Whether you are a single parent by choice, a single parent household, have extended family in the home, or are two parents raising children coaching and communication support can be helpful during this time. Some of the work that may come up during this work includes; boundaries, division of labor, extended family, expectations, dreams, fears, and/or asking for support. I finished Bringing Home Baby training with the Gottman Institute to continue to gain knowledge on the value of the relationship during the adjustment to parenthood. Along with family planning and decisions around perinatal mental health, I found that support is often needed for the whole family, which is why I completed Gottman Method Level 2 training in couples therapy.

Coaching locations that work for you!

I strive to make coaching accessible and comfortable for you. Coaching is typically provided virtually, or in an office setting. Additional options are offered to guide you towards your goals. You can talk about the best option for you during your free consultation and we can continue to evaluate and adjust as we continue work together.

Options include: virtual, in-office, home visits, and “walk and talks” in the community and nature.

Walk and Talk Coaching

The mindfulness and awareness aspects of walk-and-talk support many clients’ healing journey.  Being outside and moving creates a state of flow, which benefits both the client and the coach!

Being outside and accepting mother nature's weather conditions is an exposure experience related to acceptance and tolerating the unknown. In a walk-and-talk session, a brief, mindful, slow walk brings awareness to body sensations, feelings, emotions, and thought patterns. We utilize the environment to engage the five senses. Typically, we’ll find a place to sit on the grass, a bench, along the lakefront, or in a park at a table to pause and reflect on the present state of being. The client's chosen topic is explored over tea or water.

Things to consider before choosing walk-and-talk coaching

There may be barriers to walk-and-talk coaching, so discuss with your coach to see if it fits your goals. Examples of barriers include inclement weather and hazards that arise with movement-based supports, including but not limited to falling. Adjustments can be made during the session for optimal confidentiality but can’t be guaranteed outdoors.

Common Questions

  • Coaching is present-focused and does not include a diagnosis. With coaching, you work to identify values and choices to engage in actions toward goals. Coaching focuses on the present experience and how to move towards the life you want to be living.

Coaching is billed directly to the client and doesn't use health insurance. Coaching can be done individually or in groups. Coaching sessions can be held virtually, in the community (park, coffee shop), or in an office.

Therapy typically explores past events that impact psychosocial functioning. Therapy is a form of processing to gain insight and support with a diagnosis, and sessions are billed through insurance. Therapy is usually done in a clinical setting, including virtually or in an office, and sometimes may include out in the community. Therapy aligns with moving past a previous event or symptom.

  • Topics may include life transitions like career changes, graduation from college, addition of family member, loss and grief, relationship stressors, desire to create change in current lifestyle, living an authentic life, problem-solving ways to move towards dreams, family planning, body acceptance/ neutrality, wellness movement to support whole health, adjustment to parenthood and many any stressor that arise in life.

  • Services are an investment in your future self to transform and connect with the life you want to live.

All services offered at Riesgo Support are fee-for-service and are not billable to insurance. Due to not providing a diagnosis for coaching services most flex spending accounts don’t support coaching or movement such as yoga services. Most services are paid in advance when scheduling unless discussed with the coach in advance.
